Actually zoom does work on those additional images as well. But the UX looks little creepy, because your product picture resolutions (for add. pictures) are low.
The golden rule about our zoomEffect extension is:
- flexibleZoomEffect does not virtually scale up the original images to avoid picture quality loses. Because, well, as you might know, there is no such IT technology that can virtually enlarge a picture without any quality loses, and no one likes quality loses on pictures, pictures must be vivid and in high-quality, especially on eCommerce stores...The largeProductPicture are being used inside the zoom-box as reference as you move your mouse on the thumbnail. ((when i say thumbnail, i don't mean the actual thumbnails that VM is creating, i mean the thumbnail that stays on the left side of the page on the product details page))
You will need to upload larger product images. If you upload small or medium-sized (less than ~500x500 pixel) product images to your shop, the zoom effect won’t be adding much user-exprience to your website. Because then the thumbnail and largeProductPicture will have almost the same resolutions, in other words, the ratio between those two will almost be 1:1 then.. The ratio must be larger to experience the zooming effect. Just for testing, upload couple 900x900 pictures (both for parent & add. pictures) and you will see what i am talking about..
If there is no way to upload any larger pictures (because these are the only pictures you have been given), then i am afraid you have no chance but using the "Lens" zoomType, or reduce the thumbnails resolutions little bit more.. The goal is: either enlarge the original product picture resolutions, or reduce the thumbnail resolutions so that the ratio between those two will be increased.
