TOPIC: Images in module - size problem

Images in module - size problem 11 years 2 months ago #2506

Hello!

I would like to change the size of the images within the module, but when I try to change it in backend in the module's settings nothing happens. Just the area where the image is inside gets bigger, but the image's size itself remains the same.

I also tried to change the thumbnail image size in the virtuemart component, but this doesn't work, too.

Any ideas?

Thanks for your help!

Christos

Hi,

Once the images are generated based on the thumbnail size you have provided, they are stored in the cache folder.
First remove the already generated thumbnails from the cache folder, that time your new sizes for thumbnail will be valid.

To remove already generated images from cache folder, look at this folder:

ROOT/cache/mod_vm_flexible_fancy_slider/images/

Delete all images you see in this folder, and then the module will re-generate the thumbnails based on your new values for thumbnails.

Hi,
I`m sorry, but I have to correct myself.
I made a mistake regarding the module. I deleted files from another module and not the fancy slider... :P

But... when I looked again to find the right module within the folder cache, there was actually no folder mod_vm_flexible_fancy_slider/images within root/cache !!

I created now a folder mod_vm_flexible_fancy_slider/images but nothing happened.

Is it normal, that there is no such folder?

What can I do to solve this problem?

Hi,
What Virtuemart version are you using? At first i though your VM is VM1.1.9 since you mentioned about sizing.

That folder that i have mentioned earlier is only exist in VM1.1.9 version. There is no cache folder in VM2.0.xx version though, because the structures are different.

In VM1.1.9 version = our module generates its own thumbnails.
in VM2.0.xx version = our module grabs the already generated thumbnails (from Virtuemart Component)

I am guessing you are using VM2.0.xx ... So are you sure that your thumbnails are not 90 by 90 in Virtuemart? In VM2.0.xx version of our module, it simply takes whatever Virtuemart Component generates. Looks like you have set very small value through VM Configuration, so Virtuemart has generated the thumbnails very small. You can try to increase the height and width value through VM Configuration and regenerate them with that new sizing values. (Virtuemart also cache the old thumbnails, you need to delete the already generated thumbnail if you want to have the new sizing values to be affected)

Please re-generate your thumbnails through Virtuemart. (Type at least 200 by 200 for thumbnail sizing, 200 is more than enough), Follow these steps to regenerate whole thumbnails at once:

- Go to the images/stories/virtuemart/products/resized folder. Delete all images in this folder.
- Also go to the images/stories/virtuemart/categories/resized folder and delete all images. Now when you reload your web site from the front-end the thumbnails will be recreated at the right size for both product pictures and category pictures.

Hi,

it worked! Thank you! :)

I'm using vm 2, so that was the reason your first suggestion didn't work.
The changes you explained me now for vm 2 worked for me.

Next time I will mention it, that I'm using vm 2. ;)

Great support, Thanks!
