TOPIC: Have responsive template, Fancy Slider fine on web

Have responsive template, Fancy Slider fine on web 5 years 10 months ago #7495

First, thank you for creating always modules that are much needed by shop owners like myself. This is not the first time I'm buying your product (I used a different account to purchase from you before. It's just that I couldn't remember the password, so I had to register a new account)

I bought your Fancy Slider today. I have a responsive template, and the slider looks fine when I view my site on PCs and laptops.

However, the slider breaks my site layout on mobile devices. I know the description of the slider didn't mention it can handle responsive layout, and I have no complaints. The module works the way it's supposed to. I'm only hoping to get some direction on what to modify if I want to keep the layout intact on mobile devices (if possible?)

Thank you very much in advance :)

Hi,

You know what, the fancy product slider should be responsive (if your joomla template is already responsive). Because as you see in this DEMO:
demo.flexiblewebdesign.com/coolmart/index.php
(look at the bottom and find the "Flexible - Fancy Product Slider" module)

The Fancy Slider module is responsive. Try to shrink the browser width size.

Are you working in a live server? If so, please provide me your website URL and let me take a look at it.

Please take a look at www.bsapartment.com/Joomla

Under Products menu, you should be able to see the slider.

Thank you very much for your time.

Hello,

I'm not familiar with JS or JQuery. But, I tried to played about with the code.
I guess I was able to make it responsive. Looks fine on Chrome, but on Firefox, images flicker a bit when slider bar is moved (this happen if you resize the browser after the initial load).

Maybe it can help someone in the future.

Ohh i understand why it wasn't responsive.

Since you created the forum topic in "Flexible Fancy Slider" category, i thought you were talking about "Flexible Fancy Slider" module, but what you are using is "Flexible Slider (scroller)".

They are different modules:
This is what you have: www.flexiblewebdesign.com/Virtuemart-Modules/Virtuemart-Flexible-Product-Slider
This is what i thought you had: www.flexiblewebdesign.com/Virtuemart-Modules/Virtuemart-Flexible-Fancy-Product-Slider

Unfortunately the "Flexible Product Slider" (the one you have) is not responsive.
Instead of using JS or Hard coding to make the slider responsive, you should better be using CSS Media Queries and CSS overrides for the certain screen resolutions (in my example below, i have picked max-width:677px, but you can pick something smaller or larger)

open this CSS file:
ROOT///modules/mod_vm_flexible_slider/media/themes/white-horizantal/white-h.css

and include these CSS rules:
@media (max-width:677px) {
    #flexible-scroller-1, #flexible-scroller-1 > div, .scrollarea {
    width: 480px !important;
    }
    .scrollbar .scrollbar {
        width:450px !important;
    }

}

You can play around with the values. But basically the idea is there.
Handling the responsiveness with CSS is much much easier. Avoid using 100% but instead use some fixed values, you would get better result.

To get the screen resolution of different IOS devices (iPad, iPad mini and iPhone) and use them as the CSS Queries; see this page: stephen.io/mediaqueries/
