In CleanMart Defaul, additional pictures are positioned vertically, while in CleanMart flexv2 additional images are placed in horizontal.

I would like if possible to keep the system default (my favorite), but have the additional images in horizontal as in flexv2.

Unfortunately i can't provide you step-by step guidance on this, because this is a custom modification. You would need to purchase premium support through www.flexiblewebdesign.com/premium-support and let us take this modification for you.
But if you have basic knowledge on HTML and PHP; you can do those modifications by yourself though.

The PHP file you need to make edits is this:
/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/html/com_virtuemart/productdetails/default.php
