search is not showing product child results. If I type in Plush Pad Bloom (Plush Pad is the product parent and Bloom is a product child) which a customer would naturally do to find the style of this product, nothing comes up. Does search not work with product child?

Of course search doesn't include child products, otherwise there will be some serious problems.
Some people have more than 100 child products for a single parent item. Child products usually don't have any picture (they use the parent's picture) and usually child products have the same product name as parent.

If this was the case; search would give results of 100 same items with same product name, and 99 items without any pictures. So it makes sense to exclude them from search results.

Child products are exist only for Custom Fields. They are not real products. This is also how Virtuemart was developed. It doesn't come with our VM Template.
