I'm unable to add items to the shopping cart or read the AJAX shopping cart when I enter the URL to the category directly. Using Firebug I can see that the AJAX requests do get sent and handled, just nothing happens.

• Clicking "add to cart" doesn't do anything visually, but in the background I can see an AJAX POST request being done
• Clicking the drop-down cart list, the "loading list" box disappears within the second

Visit URL index.php/nl/vmtest/

Are you working in a live server?
If so, can you provide me your website URL and let me see and investigate your source codes? this might be something to do with the sef-URL or jQuery conflict. I can't be sure.

I'm working on in a development environment on a live server.

The pages can be visited with the following URLs:
growndowntown.coop/index.php (works)
growndowntown.coop/index.php/nl/vmtest (only cart works)
growndowntown.coop/index.php/nl/vmtest/test (nothing works)

The development environment can be triggered by appending ?test to any url (sets a cookie, only needs to be done once), like:
growndowntown.coop/index.php?test

I can't access to your virtuemart in a regular way.
growndowntown.coop/index.php/nl/?option=com_virtuemart
Or this:
growndowntown.coop/index.php/nl/component/virtuemart/

Doesn't show me anything but a blank "content" area. This URL's are supposed to be linked to Virtuemart Frontpage.
Did you remove everything from VM Frontpage? Is this Why?

You should better disable the SEF URL option to let me what those pages actually are.

OK, but what is this page? It is obvious it is not Virtuemart Frontpage, and it is something else. What is the original non-SEF URL of this page?

You should choose "VM Frontpage" from the "joomla menu manager" to generate a menu item for Virtuemart Frontpage, which will eventually have this non-sef URL:
growndowntown.coop/index.php?option=com_virtuemart

And you can enable/disable: shop description, categories and the TABs (top10, special product etc.. ) through VM Connfiguration > Template.

To link to any category, you should use this non-sef URL:
growndowntown.coop/index.php/nl/?option=com_virtuemart&view=category&virtuemart_category_id=1
Or choose "VM Category Layout" while creating a menu item from the "menu manager"
