Yesterday i bought your template. Looks great. I have a few questions: Is it possible to get rid off the new/sale etc buttons?
A bigger issue is that it's possible to add parent products to the cart after the installation of the the template. For example: Parent is an ampifier available in black and silver finish. I see the black and silver version in the dropdown menu. Before the installation of the template there was a button: "choose a product". After the update there's just a "add to cart" button. When i click it before selecting it's not the product on top of the dropdown menu which gets in the basket but the parent product.

Hi,

removing new/sale buttons from category browse page requires little coding change in this file:
ROOT/template/yourjoomlatemplate/html/com_virtuemart/category/default.php
(default.php or flexv2.php which ever you are using)

Look for this SPAN TAGs:
And delete them completely. Those badges will be removed completely. BE AWARE, THERE ARE 3 DIFFERENT PLACES IN THE SAME FILE YOU WILL FIND THIS LINE. SO MAKE SURE DELETE ALL 3 OF THEM. (one is for ListView, other is for GridView, tha last one is for MultiGridView)

About your second question, actually i didn't understand. If you give me more specific examples by providing some live URL, then i would understand and provide you a TIP or Solution for it.

This is what happening now. site with template . When you click on "voeg toe" ("add to cart") without selecting an other version of the product you don't get the silver or black version in your cart but the parent product.
Without your template there's a button "choose a product". You can't add the parrent product in the cart.

I just updated our VM Template - PureMArt. It is now ready to use "Child product Custom field, with stockable variants"

Since i am seeing you have used "child product", i assume you want to keep track the "stock" of those variants as well. Otherwise, you can use regular custom field, and you won't need to make all this stuff. Our Template is already ready for it.

So you should follow my steps.

First of you should update your
- Virtuemart (to VM2.0.12)
- Virtuemart AIO (to VM-AIO 2.0.12)
- Our pureMArt (i just emailed your download link to your email address. Reapply our VM Template from scratch.)

then follow the tutorial.

Thanks for your reply and solutions. The latest versions of VM and VM were already installed. When I removed your template it worked just as I wanted. I could not add a parent in the cart(button"choose a product" reappears) . I installed the new version and read the manual. Problem is that i don't work with the VM custom stockable variants.

I understand what you are saying. But saying something like "when i uninstall your template, everything works" doesn't a good speech. If it was possible, we would implement it ( "choose a product" text instead of "add to cart") to our VM Template as well but then we would need to remove the "add to cart" button from "category browse page". We did it that way, because we don't want to eliminate "add to cart" button from browse page, 'cause people love it. In Official Virtuemart there isn't any "add to cart" button in category browse page.

What i am saying is; instead of using "Generic Child Product" type custom field, use the "VM Custom Field, Stockable Variants" option or regular custom field "integer".

What is your purpose? Do you want to keep track the stock info of those attributes? Why are using "generic child product" custom field?

If you don't care about stocking, then you should use "integer" custom field. Which is much much easier, and you don't even need to add child products. If you want to keep the stock info, then you should use "VM custom Field, stockable Variants" plugin.

It says in the product description:
This is a TEST product to show you how it will look like if you use Custom Field: Generic Child Variant. In this DEMO, Black is parent product and all others are child products. Black, Grey and Mahogany colors have 1 stock, and Navy/Blue is Out of Stock. But this custom field option is not a convenient way for stocking. Because if the BLACK is out of stock, this product will be marked as "out of stock" in category browse page even though there are some stocks left in other colors. This option is good if you want to show different product pictures for different attributes, and you don't have any concern about stocking.

I see my problem. I want a template where you can't order parrent products and can not order directly from the category page. I use parents and children in this way because they are very easy to edit in an Excel sheet. Stock control is going to be important in the future.
Is it possible to change the template so you lose the possiblity to order from the category page and where you can't order parrents anyway( like standard VM). If so, what will be the costs?

Actually our VM Template - FAshionMArt has exactly what you are looking for already.

Because in that template there is no TINY "add to cart" in the GRID layout, so we have implemented the function you were looking for. (if the parent can't be orderable). The add to cart button changes to "Choose a product variant first".

But, if you decide to use this "generic child variant" custom field, YOU SHOULD BE AWARE THAT; parent product MUST be selected as "can't be order-able" because if the parent is orderable; first of all the "add to cart" button will be shown, you won't see the "choose variant first" text and secondly when parent product becomes "out of stock", then product will be marked as "out of stock" in the category browse page even though there are some stocks left in the child products.

Great!! I think I have to change to the fashion mart template although I really like the looks of Pure Mart (specifications tab would be fantastic for our shop !). Is it possible to buy the fashion mart template and trade in the pure mart template? :-)

This template looks great, indeed, but I think this topic is still alive.
I have added to my parent products a Stockable Variant Plug In for each one and I can add those parents to the basket in the category view.

How can I disable that feature? Thx.

Yes, you are right, probably we didn't consider this kind of situation.
The "add to cart" button should be hidden in GridView and MultiGridView as parent product is added without any attribute, But it is okay to leave it how it is now in ListView layout though since visitors can select the attribute.
