I have switched my site tu userfriendly url. And now when i first click on top on "sign in" there comes the site to login or became a new member.

when I try with .htaccess etc on my test site I get

test.flexiblewebdesign.com/virtuemart-2-template-lightmart/template/virtuemart/user-account-maintenance/editaddresscartBT?flexible=register

which works fine...

I would echo the same question because I too have the same problem.
I have a problem with the "Search Engine Friendly URLs" in the global configuration of the website.
If the active to optimize the URLs for the search engines, I have a problem with the phase of user registration.
If I select the menu item "Login" and then "Create an Account", I get the message "Please login first" and then not allow me to perform user registration.
If you do not active the "Search Engine Friendly URLs" works, but the URL that is displayed in the url bar is not optimized.
example:
www.website.it/store/server.html
www.website.it/store/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&view=category&virtuemart_category_id=57&Itemid=540

"please login first" is the hint...

Anyways you have links (profile and vm associated links) in menus set to show only to registered or something similar, just set this menu items back to public and set the menu module to show only for registered.

This happens due to wrong SEF URL creation.
Here i am providing the easiest solution which doesn't require any Core Hack to any file.

- Open your Joomla Menu Manager.

See the screenshot:




- Then find the Menu item that has "VirtueMart » Account Maintenance" as menu item type.




- Then change the menu item type to "External URL" for this menu item and type this URL (to LINK feld):

/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&view=user&layout=edit
or
http://www.YOUR_DOMAIN.com/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&view=user&layout=edit



This should avoid the SEF URL confusion and everything should work out just fine.

While I was doing some tests I put the site off-line. Now you see.

The site in question is an e-commerce for companies and not for individuals, so depending on the contractual arrangements, the same products have different prices for each company.
For this reason we want users register first, so we know in advance which company they are and we can show you the agreed price.

is the menu item set to /index.php?option=com_virtuemart&view=user&layout=edit a public menu?

also if I try

It could be a problem of the .htaccess file?

To me this seems unlikely if all other links are working correctly . It is more likely as the boss was explaining that there is some base VM url with a wrong SEF alias..

Please go thru and check ALL your menu urls - make sure there is at least one pointing to the com_virtuemart component etc..

This isn't a "template" problem - our templare uses the same url costruction as a "normal" VM site - so it has to be some config problem....

I checked out your demo and behaves like my website. The user registration works fine, but the url that is displayed in the url bar is not optimized.

I also tried to enter an address manually, as suggested by Support, but the url address remains is not optimized.

At this point I do not know how to fix it.

If the site menus are set up exactly as the boss shows above it works fine here

it is accessable to the public

the menu item for account maintenance is set to an external url
index.php?option=com_virtuemart&view=user&layout=edit

our sef settings are as in the screen shot with the standard joomla .htaccess enabled

Looking at your site you have no sef enabled so very hard to check anything... do other links work correctly etc with SEF enabled
Your site works fine as it is now..
