Custom field type 'Cart Variant' is not in Virtuemart 3.x . How do i create and link images based on color selection in vm3

Hi,

"Cart Variant" has been renamed as "String" in VM3.x.. The rest of the procedure is exactly the same. FYI: While creating the String type custom field; make sure to select YES for "Cart Attribute" and "Cart Input".

Try these:

1- Open VM Backend >> Configuration >> Template and disable this option: [Use jQuery chosen for dropdowns in FE]

-- Becuase chosen() plugin transforms the ordinary dropdown select box into a fancy one, which behaves differently when selecting the option. You can get the same kind of look by adding couple CSS lines to style the dropdown select-box.

2- If still no luck, then try to enter 993 to "Image Alt-Text" field (not "Displayed Image Title")

i have used image 105mmDesignerWalnut.png and added id 930 to image alt text for the black option

You have to add the 105mmDesignerWalnut.png as the additional product picture to this product: 105mm Designer Pelmet Rod Maghogany

ZoomEffect doesn't load the pictures. It just selects the appropriate picture (from the available product pictures) based on selected variable.

If you want to load an another picture based on selected variable, then you should use official "Multi Variant" Custom Field of Virtuemart, which works based on "Parent Products => Child Products". By using this Multi Variant custom field, you can load different price, name, description, and pictures by just changing the variable (loading new content is handled by AJAX loading)
