Hi,

Make sure the Parent Product's stock number is higher than 0. So you don't see the "notify" button anymore. Since the parent is not going to be order able, the stock number of the parent is not very important. But it should be higher than 0

Also, while adding the "Generic Child Variant" custom field to parent, make sure to select;

"Display parent as option" to YES
"Parent orderable" to NO

I solved the problem .... I had to fill in a number greater than 0 to the parent product.

Since the "parent" is not orderable. The stock number for parent will never gets reduced, keep this in mind.
