Hi, I'm having several problems.

when a try to add a product nothing appears in the cart. Instead, the first checkout screen (without products as well) appears with the message, no shipping selected. Every time i try to add a product, this happens (the empty checkout screen appears).

I have 2 payment methods
and 3 shipping methods

have you tried with puremart disabled completely to check the core VM functions?

You can temporarily disable PureMart by changing the name of this folder from:
ROOT/templates/<yourjoomlatemplate>/html/com_virtuemart
to
ROOT/templates/<yourjoomlatemplate>/html/com_virtuemart2

and set any over-rides back to default

if the problem is still there

Hi I tried the suggestion and same results.

I think something is broken/corrupted somewhere.
(the site is also terribly slow)

I did change the virtuemart folder back to what it was, so if you want me to disable it again, let me know.

Yes - but if it's the same with our template disabled then - to be harsh - it's not our problem..
We provide support (and excellent support) for all our templates and extensions - but if your site is broken I really think it's not for us to fix it....

When I looked it seemed totally corrupted - fatal errors etc etc - as though the cart object doesn't even exist... a fresh start/install maybe?

And the last part is your code?

I did a manual reinstall, but nothing improved.

Yes - but if you try with our template disabled and its the same then it's not our template - it is after all just a template..

if disabled the fatal error probably moves to

components/com_virtuemart/views/cart/default_pricelist.php ?

It's the same problem - that function is expecting the cart object which doesn't exist... therefore the fatal error..

When you say manual install what did you install?

Should only take half an hour to set a a base Joomla/VM - with example products etc.. test it.. then add our template..
Our template is used by 100's of clients - it just doesn't break Joomla/VM installs - something else is wrong..
But you have to estimate how much time u want to spend on it against a fresh clean install (not a reinstall..)

How far are you with the site - is it new - did this just happen etc etc.. everything in life has a reason.. ;)

First of all, you are mentioning;
The site is extremely slow, but your homepage is slow as well.

And our VM Template absolutely nothing to do with your homepage, our VM Template start being active when you click any VM product or visit the VM category page. So; if the website is already slow in your homepage, try to eliminate the JS file or plugins you are using in your website layout. This might help to increase the loading performance.

It is clearly obvious that your website is having jQuery conflict issue, this is why lots of things are not working.

First of all, keep this in mind, you can't take all the freeware plugins around and install them all to your website. This is no good. You should carefully pick them and make sure they won't give you headache by loading multiple library to your website or create a conflict.

Disable the page compression tools in your website to clear the source codes, so you can easily see what JS file gets loaded, you know how many jQuery library your website is loading?. Because i just looked at your website, your website doesn't load any jQuery at all. This is insane, your website is full of jQuery plugins, and the jQuery library is missing. Of course none of them would work. Virtuemart officially requires jQuery library to run the "add to cart" function, AJAX loading, and everything.

Open the VM Configuration and make sure jQuery option is enabled, and loading this jQuery from Google Library is better (so enable the external jQuery loading as well). You should disable jquery loading through VM Configuration, ONLY YOU ARE SURE YOUR WEBSITE IS ALREADY LOADING ONE (jQuery1.6) to avoid multiple loading.

Hi, thanx for answering! I was starting over again. The site itself isn't that much of a problem, but the products took me a lot of time and didn't want to do it all over. Was trying to get them exported.

But...

I did what you advised. Tturned of all compression and caching and switched VM Jquery on again (it was off due to earlier problems).

So, this did the trick.

Would you advise using a jquery plugin and switching VM Jquery off again?

Ah, i found the problem: jotcache. I excluded the cart in the configuration but that didn't seem to work properly.
Finally disabled jotcache totally. when I try switching it on again the problem is back.

Thanks for letting us know - what is jotcache supposed to do?

I've never seen a VM site where caching didn't cause some problems - basically what Virtuemart needs is a decent host server - plenty of memory and cpu - and a fast access to the mysql..

Caching really doesn't work with an interactive site..
