Hi there, quick question...

I've setup stockable variants and created child products for colour options on a product (orange, green, red, black).

Each child product has it's own image (i.e. a different colour for each child)

What i've noticed is that when you go to the main product with the children, click on a product variant (e.g. colour black) and add the product to the basket, the basket image does not show the child product image, it shows the main product image.

Its a little confusing for the user, the thumbnail shows the default image (Orange) yet they may have selected black, or green, or selected two different product colours. It's not the end of the world as the colour option is shown in the description.

Do you know of a way that by selecting the colour variant, that colour is shown in the basket? This may be a question for the Virtuemart forum.

"VM custom field, stockable variants" can't be used to have different picture for "child products".

It was designed to get the "stock info" for child products and it is an extended version of "Cart Variant" custom field. This is just what it is.

To get different product picture from child products, you should be using "Generic Child Product" custom field, but this also doesn't work as efficient as "VM custom field, stockable variants". This is actually the biggest missing functionality of Virtuemart (still) and "VM custom field, stockable variants" plugin. And -both you and we- are expecting from Virtuemart developers to come up with a core solution. Hopefully in the next Virtuemart release.
