Hi,

It is because how the Virtuemart was designed. But you can change it with a little tweak.
Please open this PHP file:
ROOT/templates/<yourjoomlatemplate>/html/com_virtuemart/category/default.php

and find this line: (it is 60th line)

if ( VmConfig::get('showCategory',1) and empty($this->keyword)) {

and change it with this:

if ( VmConfig::get('showCategory',1) and empty($this->keyword) && !(boolean)JRequest::getVar('search', 'manufacturer', false)) {

Then categories will be hidden from manufacture pages.

Hi,

I have try this solution before, it is also hide sub-categories under categories section. (sub categories are active on vm configuration)
I could not find a solution which hide categories from manufacturer pages also show sub categories on categories page.

Ps. It is not a core solution but I have instaled an extended manufacturer module to show sub categories on categories pages.

Hi,

You might have seen that code since i took it from forum.virtuemart.net, i did the test in my local server and i saw that it was working, i just didn't notice also the sub-categories are gone. Apparently the problem you are having is an issue in Virtuemart as well, since exactly same thing is happening in official Virtuemart too (i just tried and confirmed).
But looks like somehow you found a way to solve your problem by yourself. I am glad things get worked as you expected.
