I have a template called 1870 allowing with overrides for Virtuemart on
- productdetails

in which I have not only the file you relate to in the tutorial, but all the ones in VM.

Please check my site sent on your other mail and see why this is not functionning :

there is a loop apparentely not ending.

I am sorry that you have been trying to reach us for 2 days. The reason of your delay is; the person who takes care the forum is different than who takes care the support emails.
