Yes, there is. It is possible to completely eliminate the TABs via product details PHP file. But the simplest way is to use CSS to hide them.

Open this CSS file:
templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/html/com_virtuemart/assets/css/flexible.css

scroll to the VERY bottom and INSERT this CSS rule:
