TOPIC: VirtueMart 3.2 Compatibility?

VirtueMart 3.2 Compatibility? 7 years 2 weeks ago #14968

Hi there

Are you able to indicate whether the latest version of Cleanmart Template is compatible with VM 3.2? i.e. is it advisable to update to VM 3.2 at this stage, or should we expect an update to Cleanmart first?

Many thanks.

So far, we have not noticed anything wrong. But It is not confirmed 100% yet. The tests for all possible scenarios haven't been completed yet.

You may install the VM3.2 along with CleanMart on your localhost and test it out in your setup. You shouldn't get any error message nowhere; but it is safe to test it on localhost first before going live.

Hi again, some feedback.
I tested in dev site, and then installed the latest VM and Joomla updates, and everything seems to be working fine.
I did notice however, that the VM Front Page menu item now has a (deprecated) warning and so in my dev site I tried the new VM setting, which is now recommended to be a Category Layout / Top Level Category menu item. On changing to this, it completely broke the site layout for that page - it just basically displays an index of the menu and not much more. (screen shot 1 attached)
I'm not too sure whether it has something to do with the way the menu item should be configured (I have tried, and don't seem to have any joy with that) or whether I should try to create a new Front Page Category 'holder' for the various shop categories and then select that. On searching the forums it seems that perhaps it has to do with the VM template overrides, and that something in the Flexible template needs to change to accommodate this.
For now, it's fine to keep the deprecated Front Page item on my live site, but perhaps you have some insight into how the newer version of the Front Page should best be accommodated. (screen shot 2 - deprecated Front Page menu item)
Thank you.

Hi,

The 1st screenshot you attached doesn't tell much. It is obvious there is a PHP error in that page, thus the website can't load the proper CSS file (so the layout looks absurd).. What PHP error messages are you getting? please copy-paste me the error messages. You can also look at the php_error.log file as well if you can see any in the front-page.

Regards

Hi -
My fault after all... I had to play around with the various options in the menu settings - realised the template wasn't loading at all; eventually it loaded more correctly with some settings for the subordinate categories set. Still haven't managed to get it to show the featured and top 10 etc, but will do some more testing and probably come right with it.
Thanks :)
