Hello, I saw in your PureMart demo page that the Custom fields can be shown in the Category Page.
Every thing seems to be working fine regarding Virtumart and the PureMart template but I don't know what I am doing wrong but I cant find a way to show the simple text Custom Fields in the Caterogy Page, as a matter of fact, not even in the product page.

If the "custom fields" won't show in the product details page, then i am 100% sure you forgot to set the custom field as "Cart Attribute".

Open the custom field and be sure you set the "Cart Attribute" to YES.
