Hi Anthony,
You understand the concept completely wrong. Let me clarify this
That download link will never be expired
There are 2 criteria that make the download link get expired:
1- The expiration date
2- The download time (999 times - previously it was 99 but we increased that to 999)
There is a problem with in our backend (a bug) that sometimes the download links get expired because of the 2nd criteria sooner than normal.
The reason of it; you are allowed to download the file for 999 times from our server (within the free update subscription period of course). sometimes the download managers (usually the firefox built-in download manager) in order to increase the download speed, they make too many requests (parallel download request) to download the file from our server (download managers work just like Torrent), each requests is counted as a 1 download by our backend, which is wrong. Each time you download the file from our server, you are actually downloading it only once, but our server counts that download as 15 or 25 (depends on the number of parallel download request your manager makes)
This makes the download link gets expired too soon. This is why this forum specific topic (request download link) is exist. This happens too many people. Once you have been told "your download link will never expired", you have been told, your download limit has been increased to infinite. So no matter how many parallel links your download manager request, it won't be able to make your link get expired.
We have always had a "free update expiration" since we started doing business (since 2009), it was always 1-year until August 2013, then we decided to drop it to 6-months in order to keep the updates at the top quality level. Who ever purchased the template/extensions from us before August 2013, their free-update expiration remains 1-year. Because this policy update didn't effect them. So didn't yours. Your free update has expired on
21 January 2014 which is exactly 1-year later you purchased the "Upgrade License" option. (i doubled checked your order history)
FYI: We are not just fixing the bugs with each updates, but we are improving the templates a lot!! by adding new and cool features to it. Actually if you look closely, the PureMart is not in the same state as PureMart you purchased last year. It has been developed and has become more powerful (look at the release notes, or live DEMO). If we provided free updates life-time (it won't be possible, but let's assume we did), we simply wouldn't spend time to improve the template (beside fixing bugs) and release a new templates with the name of "PureMart 2" or "PureMart 3" and so on, so it won't be the same template name. Would you prefer this? It won't be a fair business.
By the way even Microsoft doesn't provide "life-time" update for their products, (as you might know, Microsoft stopped releasing updates for Windows XP last months. XP is still being used by 15% of the computers in the world), then it would be the unfair to expect a life-time update from flexiblewebdesign.com.
Regards.
