TOPIC: Cart module doesnt show products or links ?

Cart module doesnt show products or links ? 10 years 3 months ago #8006

I have an odd problem that has started.
I have not made any modifications to my site in this time and I use a dedicated Siteground server.
I have checked my console and no errors show up either
This happens in every page within the site.

When adding products to the cart, they show up in the cart module, but when you hover over cart module, I see the waiting timer graphic, but then nothing happens.
If I change the name of the folder in mytemplate/html/mod_virtuemart_cart, I can then see the cart module and its contents, but the styling is obviously messy now, but my point is, that I can see the cart contents and click on the "show cart" link.

php 5.3.27
J2.5.17
VM 2.0.22 C

I have had previous problems with the way the cart module works as discussed here (& I will try the 3rd party cart plugin as advised by IKIK)

Cart module doesnt show products or links ? 10 years 3 months ago #8021

Hi,

It perfectly makes sense if the "drop down" box doesn't show anything, you shouldn't have wasted your time to make that video. I would understand the problem if you just said you were using a 3rd party extension in the shopping cart page.

The drop down shopping cart module (that comes with the PureMart) is not a standalone module and requires PureMart stylization on the shopping cart page. Module makes AJAX call to shopping cart page to gather the products that have been added to cart. Since you are using a 3rd party extension on the shopping cart page; this AJAX call doesn't return anything because the HTML schemes are different.

You can't use the drop down shopping cart module that comes with PureMart unless you re-activate the PureMart template stylization on the shopping cart page.

You have only 1 option; use a "standalone" shopping cart module, like this one:
flexiblewebdesign.com/Virtuemart-Modules/Virtuemart-DropDown-Shopping-Cart
(or remove the mytemplate/html/mod_virtuemart_cart folder and use the Official Virtuemart Dropdown shopping cart module)

"Virtuemart - Flexible Drop Down Shopping Cart" costs $10 and it is a standalone module (doesn't require any specific template and work in all virtuemart systems). But I am seeing, you are one of our regulars, so i am giving this module to you as a gift.
I just added it to your most recent order and sent you the download link.

Download and Use the "Virtuemart - Flexible Drop Down Shopping Cart" module instead, to have the "drop down shopping cart" in your website.

Support

Cart module doesnt show products or links ? 10 years 3 months ago #8025

Wow, thanks for that, I'll download it and have a play with it in a while in a copy/test site.
Does your standalone cart solve the problem of some items not being added to the cart, when page hasn't fully loaded too?
Also going to buy a responsive VM theme off you next week too - any new ones due out?

I am confused however as the puremart cart module & the 3rd party "One Page Checkout" have worked nicely together for months.
After a lot of digging about yesterday, I found the problem to be with a 2nd menu I had set up to the cart.

I need a 2nd menu link for an external source to connect to the cart/checkout page ( a small satellite shop site adds product directly to this Virtuemart store/cart). & when I set this extra hidden menu link up, this is when my problems with the cart started.
As soon as i remove/delete that link that puremart cart starts to work again properly.

Anyway, I'll test further with your standalone cart & also with VM Quick Cart

Thanks,
Andy

Hi,

I can't say "YES" to this question:
Does your standalone cart solve the problem of some items not being added to the cart, when page hasn't fully loaded too?

Because even though the shopping cart modules are standalone, "still" the Virtuemart core file (vmprice.js) is responsible to add the products to cart by making the AJAX call.

I tested it a bit and the issue remains there.

But it really does look nice! Great stuff!
