I'm trying to get rid of all social buttons. There's no social plugin or module active at my site and I just can't seem to find what does them show up
they appear under the description of the product.

Please check this PHP file:

/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/html/com_virtuemart/productdetails/default.php
(default.php or flexv2.php depends on which ever layout you are using for the VM Product Details Page)

In that page, look for the social media lines. We have used official Facebook Like box to generate the "Like" button, and use www.addthis.com (or www.sharethis.com) to generate other social media icons.

You can eliminate them from the PHP file, and you won't see them anymore.

it's not a such a nice solution because now i thave to change this for each update.
Wouldn't it be better to add a select box to the plugin?

Actually you are right, that would be much better, beside adding a plugin parameter for this purpose is not big deal for us.
I am writing down and would definitely take this request into consideration for the upcoming releases.

For now, i am marking this case as "solved".
