My site and template works on my local host but if I do an akeeba backup and transfer to live host, everything goes smoothly no errors or anything but the shop template seems to be using the default templates rather than his template, but I'm confused as to why as if I'm using akeeba everything including files and database content should be same? Am I missing something?

Normally no, akeeba backup should have been okay in terms of our VM Template. Beside our VM Template is neither component nor plugin, it has nothing to do with the MySQL. Our VM Template is just bunches of PHP and Media files. Simple drag&drop would have been okay to move it. Just in case try this, this might be a solution in your case: Regenerate your Virtuemart config file. You can do it through here:
VM Backend > Tools&Migration > Renew Config File



Does everything work okay beside our VM Template? If so then; simply copy the com_virtuemart folder from your localhost. Which is right here:
ROOT/templates/<yourjoomlatemplate>/html/com_virtuemart

and PASTE it to the same path into your remote hosting. If still doesn't work and you couldn't able to make it work. Thanks yeah i thought it very strange, it seems to work to some extent but the shopfront etc is different to my local site which it shouldn't be as like you say it should transfer all the template files and virtuemart settings over - apart from that the rest of the site looks exactly same as local site.
I tried the regenerate config file but that didn't work either unfortunately, and also copying the html over into same directory everything looks like its an exact copy of local site but for some reason the virtuemart frontend on live remote site doesnt use the template/settings as local site

Might be helpful to others - seems my host's servers (Linux) are case sensitive and my local wasn't (IIS) - so it's was actually something quite simple - just needed to change 'HTML' to 'html' here:
templates/templatename/HTML
changed to:
templates/templatename/html
