Is the fashionmart template responsive - does it work well on a smart phone / tablet?
(if the Joomla template itself is responsive of course!)

Unfortunately no.

FashionMart is a pretty old VM2 template. (we are continuously updating it to make it compatible with the most recent version of Virtuemart) but the responsiveness is not what we have considered while developing the FashionMart.

You should better consider purchasing CleanMart if you care about the "responsiveness". CleanMart is fully responsive (if the Joomla Template is responsive already, of course)

(hopefully very soon, FashionMart and PureMart will be responsive as well. It is not a big deal for us to make them responsive, it only requires some extra effort and "time", which we don't have these days ;)

I used your site form requesting some pre-sales info but I have received no response. I then sent a PM using FB. No response either. I thought maybe all those channels are not active right now. What should we do? Is this normal?

What form did you use for asking your pre-sale question? Facebook is only for marketing reason, don't send PM there, nobody is checking the FB email inbox.
