I don't know why my VM categories are blank :


I have choosen VM categores type in the menu item.


The VM config. / template tabs indicates


The VM category is like this


I have been searching the all day, this is driving me crazy !
Can you help me ?

As i am seeing in the screenshots; the "Category Browse Page" is set as "categories", but why did you choose it?
You should choose "Default"

Actually every single select box should be chosen as "Default" (or No Override if applicaple)

I have the same issue too, but only on ertain categories
This one (actually all the RAM ones) doesn't work

But most others work fine, but everything is set to default from what I can see.

Hi Chris,

Based on the debug trace, your Joomla is failing to load the "template".... but this line: PlgSystemRedirect::handleError( ) ../redirect.php:0 sounds suspicious to me. Looks like your Joomla is trying to make a redirection (probably due to the 404-not found error.)

Anyway, can you also please be sure you picked "default" category layout for all joomla menu-items that are linked to VM Categories? (through Joomla Menu Manager) Because it is also possible to choose different VM Category layout through Menu Item parameters.

Also, do you have any additional language pack installed into your Joomla? Sometimes not-well configured Multi Language Joomla's are causing this kind of problems as well.

Double checked the category and was ok.
Since it only seems to be happening with a certain category, it seems to be a fault with virtuemart itself. I deleted the faulty categories and recreated, and it works fine when empty, so must be a product that is causing the issue, however since the template won't load, I can't read the debug info to locate the fault.....

What about the php "error_logs" ? What the php logs say?

You may be right, a product might also cause this failure. Then; follow the "divide and conquer" method to find the problematic product.

Let's say; there is problem with "Clothing" category. Through VM Backend, list all products that assigned to the "Clothing" category and unpublished half of the products. See the Clothing category in the front-end and see everything starts working fine. If the problem remains; then keep unpublishing products one by one (or do one more "divide into half" if you have too many products); this will help you to identify what product(s) is repressible for this problem.

After you figure the product (or products) that causing this empty category problem; you will be able to find out what is special about that product. Did you use a special 3rd party custom field? or did you do anything differently for that product? etc..

I found the fault, not with the products, its seems to be with how the template handles some products when they don't have manufacturers assigned to them. Our website is updated by a feed and one of our suppliers had added a new manufacturer. Once added to VM, it worked perfectly!
