Hi,

I use, as I should Firebug to locate certain strings in files. This works fine in many templates but in LightMart I have a problem. When I point out a certain thing, I get the location, not something like custom.css or template.css and do on. Instead i get addresses like "gzip?php?template-1da301e7.css".

How am I supposed to locate the correct file and correct line?
Sorry for my ignorance, but I am still learning.

You can't locate the file. Because all the CSS files are combined and compressed. They become 1 file. So, you can't locate the exact CSS file.

This is why the GZIP option should be disabled during the development period.
Open the Template Settings and disable the GZIP option. So, all the CSS files (template.css, custom.css etc..) will be loaded individually, so it will make your life easier.

After you done with editing and customization, then re-enable the GZIP to combine and compress the CSS files.

JCH - Optimize is doing exactly what GZIP within Template is doing:. Combining and Compressing the CSS and JS files.
So, no need to use both of them (after your development period is ended). JCH is pretty powerful plugin, so you can keep using it. You won't need to enable the GZIP within the Template Settings. It won't be necessary. (otherwise, your website will try to compressed the already compressed files, which will cause extra processing load without any performance improvement)
