My new and very clean darkmarkt was installed without any problems. It installed quick and after adding my username and ordernumber in the template, the error disappaered for the license. BUT..

We have a own dedicated server and a perfect working virtuemart 1.1.9 on that server. So the response time should be quick ..

Nevertheless it runs like a turtle. Our testing site is www.deverlichtingwinkel.nl and our license is www.ledpaleis.nl After upgrading from 1.1.9 to virtuemart 2 we going to use your template.

The dedicated server workes fine.. Other templates also a clean virtuemart and joomla works fine. See www.helioslicht.com Also on the same server.

will give the head developer a heads up about this - but difficult to know where to start.. the slowness is the base _GET .. over a minute..

Have you checked server logs etc to see if there's any clues?

the server doesnot had any complaints.

Apache 2.2.24 Running
Php 5.2.17 Installed

The database was clean and new.

It is a complete riddle.. cause the fact that joomla 2.5.9 and virtuemart 2.0.16 and 2.0.18 works fine at our server.

the only thing I note is your php version 5.2 ? It's pretty out of date - not saying thats why but end of life was 2010 - is there any reason you stick with this version?

it was the best version wat was stable at that time. 5.3 is possible at the current virtuemart we use in heliosverlichting.nl So possible we can go up.. but we do not think that wil be problem.. Due to the fact that we use already joomla 2.5.9 and virtuemart 2.1.18

Are you seeing anything wrong in the ERROR logs of your server?

And do you have http://localhost/ in your local computer?
You can install one through
- EasyPHP (for Windows)
- XAMPP (for Mac OS x)

Those are freeware software and they both comes with PHP5.3.xx
Just give it a shot and try to install the DarkMart in your local machine where PHP5.3 is being used, you would notice the difference almost instantly.

The joomla Framework that has been used might be reason of that slowness with PHP5.2, this doesn't change the fact that joomla and virtuemart are working okay with PHP5.2, they can but it is the "minimum" requirement.
But if you look at the "requirement" page of Joomla!:
www.joomla.org/technical-requirements.html

You would see, they recommend PHP5.3

the beauty is that having a dedicated server .... we can easily change everything. We are going to upgrade the php.... to 5.3.3

Also we do have a installed xampp for upgrading and testing.. So we do try that also. BUT.. we are very curiuos about the two installed joomla 2.5.9 and even installed 2..0.20 virtuemart without any problems. We try this later on.

O sorry for later respons.. we have no errors found in errors logs on our server.

Joomla and VM2.0 will run on 5.2 - but it is not recommended..
the more the advantages of 5.3 are used then the more 5.2 becomes a problem...

Please try and see if it helps - cos we both can think of no other reason why your site should be so slow - it used by plenty of others without problems and of course extensively tested by us before release..

Ok.. we run it on php 5.3 in xammp. It is not very fast there either. Tomorrow we are going to try the server itself.
What kind of php are you running?

all our test installs are on commercial hosting servers - nothing special or unusual -

but as i say - we have dozens of customers who have never complained of this problem..

So.. we did the upgrade on our server to a new php 5.3.23
and it did not help either. just the same as on our xammp terminal.

We are going now for a new clean install..

Please re-download the Installation file from our server (in case you still don't have the latest version, the new version came out yesterday.).

Then perform the QuickStart installation method in a remote server where the PHP is PHP5.3 (not in your localhost) Don't touch anything, and browse the website, if the slowness continues, email me your joomla admin account to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and let me check it out.

PS. make sure your server uses FastCGI module to handle PHP's (instead of mod_php), it will give noticeable performance increase. You can create a phpinfo.php file in your server to see the PHP information about your server.
