TOPIC: Minor visual issues

Minor visual issues 10 years 8 months ago #5876

Hi!
I have some minor issues with the DarkMart template that I can’t resolve on my own. So your help will be greatly appreciated. I decided to put them in one topic. So here I go:

1. I’m having trouble customizing one of the dropdown(?) menus (the one with the columns). By default it has 3 columns for 3 categories and its sub-categories, but I want it to show 4 categories in 3 columns. I made a screenshot, showing how does the menu look now and a photoshopped image to show how I want it to look. How can I do it? I found a topic on your forum concerning the same menu (Horizontal Menu started by Manuel), but I can’t understand the solution he offered to himself.

2. When I’m adding products to the shopping cart, a dialog box appears. How can I make the box wider? On your DarkMart demo page the box is nicely wide to clearly separate the two buttons: “Continue shopping” and “Show cart”. On my page the box is too narrow and it’s hard to see where one button ends and another begins (see the “dialog-box” picture). So, I would like to have some space between the buttons.

3. Sidebar-A disappears after clicking “Continue shopping” button in the dialog box that appears when you add something to your cart or when you click “Continue shopping” button in the cart. If you close the dialog box from the “X”, the sidebar stays. DarkMart demo page has the same behavior. How can I make sidebar-A to stay in place after clicking “Continue shopping”?

4. I would like to move the buttons “Register” and “Cancel” to the end of the registration form on the “My account” page. Is it possible?

5. Some test clients said that the message box is not highlighted enough. That it is hard to notice when the system is trying to tell you something. Can you give me any pointers how to make the message box similar to the one in Joomla or like the error boxes, but only in blue (see the “new-message-box” picture)?

Hi Maris,

1. the logic for this is all in templates/flexible_darkmart/flexible/menus/dropdown.php - don't know if you know php?

I assume because you've got 2 menu ul's with children and 2 without is confusing the logic -
normally 3 menus with children will spread nicely across the 3 columns - you may need some bespoke code to get yours to work..

will the other two have children? In the meantime have flagged this to the dev team

2. you can play around with the margins at www.sysimust.com/templates/flexible_darkmart/css/virtuemart.css line 3381
see image
.content.my-groovy-style a {
  color: #D5D3C8;
  display: inline-block;
  margin: 0 20px 15px; /*adjust these*/
  padding: 1px 4px;
  text-transform: uppercase;
}

3. Reported this to the development team

4. www.sysimust.com/templates/flexible_darkmart/css/customizeColors.css line 22
#maininner {
  background: none repeat scroll 0 0 #343434;
  position: relative;/*add this*/
}

www.sysimust.com/templates/flexible_darkmart/css/virtuemart.css line 1270
.buttonBar-right {
  bottom: 0;
  padding: 20px 0;
  position: absolute;
  text-align: right;
  width: 100%;
}
but check that this doesn't affect any other positioning

5. www.sysimust.com/templates/flexible_darkmart/css/customizeColors.css line 125
#system-message dd {
  background: none repeat scroll 0 0 #C6D1E7;
  border-bottom: 3px solid #84A7DB;
  border-top: 3px solid #84A7DB;
  color: #84A7DB;
}

cheers

Hi John,

1. I’m afraid I don’t know php language, but I have a mate, who was willing to help me, if I really get stuck. Maybe he can come up with the needed code.

The other two menus will not have children.

2. Solved.

3. Waiting for the development team to get back to me.

4. I forgot to add “and to the left side”. Sorry! I wanted to move the buttons to the end of the registration form and to the left. I still followed your instructions and managed to get the buttons to the end of the page. Then I changed the “.buttonBar-right” to “.buttonBar-left”. The buttons ended up on the left side, but moved back to the top. As I was out of ideas I changed it back to “right”.
I also checked how this affected other positionings and found that the buttons “Save” and “Cancel” are missing in the shipment and payment modules. If moving these buttons causes to much problems, then I should leave them as they were.

5. Solved, with a little modification. I changed the last color to #284F8A, because the other one was to pale for my taste.

6. I noticed that one of the dropdown menus looks completely different, depending on the browser you use. I’m talking about the one that determines how many products are shown in one page. Is it possible to make the Opera and Internet Explorer version look more like the Firefox one?

Keep up the good work!

1. dev team may be able to help - they will contact you

4. as you say - it causes problems on other pages - which means further hacks etc - simpler to leave it?

6. dropdowns come from browsers - not webpages - if you start trying to style things like this you will be old before your time....

OK

4. Changed it back the way it was before.

6. I didn’t know that. The dropdown that sorts the products looks the same in all the three browsers. So I thought it was some template related issue.
