I have problem with template, when one of the child product is accessed from product view the sidebar-a modules disappear, as I see in your demo template to, for example Women's Test1 product.
The second one,
i have to make specific custom fields for child products with different colors, for example the parent products with two child’s have sizes in custom fields like 37 38 39 40 41 and for the cild1 product I need only 37 38 39 and for child 2 only 39 40 41, but when I set the above mentioned with "Overwrite plugin values of the parent" on, the possibility to go back with choosing the other product variant is missing, the drop down field is there but without data, where I’m wrong?

Hi Molnar,

yes your right with the child products - very odd - have reported this to the dev team..

re the custom fields - this is all core Virtuemart and I have to admit I'm no expert in setting this up.

your best bet is to ask in the VM forum for this - our template will have no bearing on this..

if you have solution for the template problem I need the modified files list because I have lots of modifications already in the template files, or the solution for solving the problem.

The answer I got from the development team is:

Yes, we are aware of it.
Because when the child product is selected, the itemID is changed (It gets the ItemID of Virtuemart Component).
We couldn't find a way to fix it beside touching Virtuemart Core files, but we don't want to do it because touching anything in Core files creates another bug in some another section.

But there is an alternative patch for it;
If at least one module in the LEFT COLUMN (module position:sidebar-a) is assigned "on all pages" or "On all pages except those selected" (through module parameters)

(see screenshot)

then the left column won't get hidden because the module publishing in the left column won't be affected by ItemID changing.

This is the most appropriate way to fix it, at least for now.
