TOPIC: Custom fields String type don't show up

Custom fields String type don't show up 9 years 11 months ago #9577

Hi, i know how the custom field work and made it work many times. Here the problem seems to be that they don't show up unless i make them Cart Attribute set to yes. Then they show up perfectly

Only that i don't want them to be card attributes but a string type that will be plain text to show up.. It doesn't work. I haven't installed any 3rd party pluging to the joomla installation to make conflicts.

You can check it out here: shop2.fintanelli.gr/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&view=productdetails&virtuemart_product_id=262&virtuemart_category_id=112&Itemid=684

I have associated the product with some Custom fields type string but nothing shows. i see in the html that the only the
div with product-field product-field-type-V and i know that it should generate a div also with product-field product-field-type-S

Please help me out with this one

Hi,

Where do you want to show the non-cart attributes custom fields? Above the add-to-cart button?

All of our templates use the same concept. We are using "TAB" to put the non-cart variants. It is called "Specifications" (but you can translate the word of Specifications to your native language through language file).

Putting the non-cart attributes inside the Specification TAB's will also increase the user-experience, avoid miss-understanding for your buyers and eliminates the mess in the product page.

For more info about how to create Specification TAB, look at the tutorial.pdf:

and read the last 2 pages.

Hmm, now that you mention that, it rings a bell. I remember that the tab was showing if i added values in Product Dimensions and Weight in VM product configuration.

I see that all the string values (along with the Product Dimensions and Weight )are concentrated under the specification tab. I think that for now i will stay with this and read the tutorial you mention.

My case was that i wanted to show some string values under the add to cart button regarding "Proper Washing of the clothes" like dry cleaning, 30 degrees only etc, and another with the cloth texture. 95% cotton etc. So sometimes putting all these values under the tab specifications, is not the best case scenario, because they are not actually specs and you can't name one tab in a way that it will match all the contents within it. The truth is that it looks quite nice the way it shows in the tutorial, so why not :D

Thanks for clearing this out
