First of all i want to admin that this is not template's fault but general VM bug from what i understand and read. Would be great though if you can suggest something.

To the point. I create a simple tax rule and a simple price modifier after tax (discount). As i show in the screen this is becoming as apply generic rule, when the default for me would be apply no rule. I know that it is reasonable to apply the standart tax to all your products but a discount to become default every time you add a new product doesn't make sense. Every time i have to choose apply no rule..

Do you have any reference to read about fixing this issue or any suggestions? It would drive the clients that are going to add products crazy..
I have found some topics admitting that this is a bug, but no recommendations how to fix this.

Hi,

First of all;
- This is directly related to how Virtuemart was developed
- This is not a bug. It is good thing actually and increase the speed of adding product process.

If the price rule doesn't have any restriction, it becomes "Generic Rule". It will be selected automatically for all your products and for all your "newly" added products. Because system will think, that price calculation is a "generic rule" and it is valid for all products.

Normally, we don't provide free support if there is no problem that caused directly by our templates.
But this is an easy one:

- First create a new category and "unpublished" it.. This will be an imaginary category (or don't don't need to create it, if you have some "blank" categories)

- Then open the calculation rule (Discount)

- add the "imaginary category" to that rule:


Understand the idea? If you add this category to the Discount Rule, the "Discount" will be "generic rule" only for that selected category (not for the entire store). You will still be able to add that discount to other products, but you need to do it manually by selecting it from the drop down (which is what you are looking for i guess)

Wow! I get the idea.. But i wouldn't think about it even in my wildest dreams!

I know that this wasn't your template's issue but i couldn't find any solutions out there.
