TOPIC: Shipping methods don't show up

Shipping methods don't show up 9 years 11 months ago #9533

During checkout when Select Shipping Method is clicked, the drop-down area is suddenly now blank. I looked in the rendered HTML, and there's nothing there, either, so it's not a layout issue. It doesn't matter whether you checkout as guest or a registered account; both have legitimate addresses. If I switch back to the stock VM template, all shipping options show up correctly.

All payment methods show up correctly, so that drop-down area is working correctly.

I just updated the site, gregyoungpublishing.com to VM2.6.0, and I installed the latest Clean Mart template v1.3, but that didn't fix the problem.

Help, please.

Not sure what was causing the problem, but I copied the core select_shipment.php file from the base VM directory and overwrote the Flexible override file with it. Now it seems to be working.

I'm not sure if this quick fix is going to break something else. I'd like some sort of confirmation that this is okay.

You wouldn't have needed to copy anything from the Core (/components/com_virtuemart/) and drag-n-drop to template override folder.

Instead of doing this, if you change the file name of this PHP file:

/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/html/com_virtuemart/cart/select_shipment.php
to
/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/html/com_virtuemart/cart/select_shipment2.php

the "Core" select_shipment.php would have been used anyway. By changing the file name (it is the same idea for changing the folder name as well) you are actually breaking the "Template Overriding", so the Core files will start being used. But of course, taking the core file and moving it to template override folder also won't hurt. It is basically the "same idea".

Probably, some PHP function we have used inside the select_shipment.php must have caused a fatal error or Syntax Error somehow. I can't say anything without see it, but as long as everything works fine with the original core file, then no problem! you are good to go.
