TOPIC: Issues with Selecting Alternate Ship To Address

Issues with Selecting Alternate Ship To Address 9 years 1 month ago #12111

On my test site running Joomla 3.3.6 with VirtueMart 3.0.6 and CleanMart 3.1 There is an issue with selecting an alternate ship to address.

There is a know issue in VirtueMart with selecting the address initially but you can force an alternate address to be selected by first selecting the address radio button and then clicking on the quantity refresh link next to any item in the cart. This will set the alternate address and display it accordingly.

However, with CleanMart enabled, when you Save a shipping method or you Save a payment method it resets the selected address back to the default address.

This is a major issue for me and I believe it impacts earlier versions of VirtueMart and CleanMart as well?

I also hate to be pushy here as well... but is anyone looking into this? I suspect that accurate support for properly managing multiple ship-to addresses isn't a high priority for many vm developers, but it is for me...

Any news you can provide relative to progress on this issue would be helpful...

Regards,
Mike

Has this been verified by anyone else? By Support? Has it even been looked at? It's been 3 days now with no response.

By the way, even your demo site shows this issue. If you create a separate Shipping address on the demo checkout page and then select and save either the Shipment or Payment method the Ship To address goes back to being the same as the Bill TO address.

I just downloaded VirtueMart 3.0.6.2 and on a Joomla 3.4.0 system using the beez3 template with CleanMart disabled (and VirtueMart One Page Checkout enabled) there is no issue with selecting, and keeping, an alternate address selected.
  1. Alternate addresses get selected and displayed when their respective radio button is selected
  2. The alternate address that is selected remains selected when selecting and saving the Shipment and Payment methods.
However when I enable CleanMart (and disable VirtueMart One Page Checkout)
  1. Selecting the alternate address radio button does nothing - in order to select an alternate address you have to click on the name to open the edit address form and then save it.
  2. The alternate ship to address gets reset to the default if either the Ship to or the Payment method gets selected and saved.
So, this is still a major CleanMart issue for me.

Thank you, Almost everything I was having issues with is fixed in version 3.2 however...

I've updated to CleanMart 3.2 and I am still having some issues with the Alternate Ship To address management.

Selecting an alternate address Radio Button works "some" of the time, however, if I select an alternate address, then select the default address, then try to select an alternate address again it doesn't update. I've also had situations where right after logging in and adding a product to the cart I am not able to change the address, However if I select an alternate address radio button, then Select "Show Cart" again in the cart module, the address I selected previously now shows as selected...

I've done the same test in pure VirtueMart with CleanMart disabled and it works fine there.

Update: 3/10/15
After further investigation I've discovered that there are still some remaining issues with Virtuemart handling of alternate ship to addresses. I am in communication with their developers and they have provided a partial fix so far. They are working on the remaining outstanding items now. I believe that the above issue seen in CleanMart will go away once Virtuemart is fixed.

Also, with Ajax loading enabled, if I attempt to checkout without having selected a Shipment or a Payment method, I get taken to a page to select either shipping or payment methods, or both, depending upon which I leave blank. In all cases when I am taken to these pages the "Save" button has no effect. All you can do is "Cancel". The same issue is also there if you disable Ajax loading of shipment and/or payment in the plugin - you get taken to an appropriate page to select either shipment or payment but the "Save" button does nothing.

Update: 3/10/15
I've made some minor changes to the select_shipment.php and select_shipment.php scripts that fix this I also had an issue with a missing "</div>" tag in both files that was messing up my template when either of these scripts was displayed on a page. I'll send them along in a PM for your review.

A minor nit - on the Cart page there is an errant "?>" just above the "Cart" title. (Line 77 in com_virtuemart/cart/default.php)

I just discovered another issue with the process of changing ship to addresses. Here is the scenario...

I have a "Free Shipping" option available to the 48 contiguous United States - AL and HI are excluded from free shipping.

If I initially choose HI as the ship to address, and select a shipping method for that address, then, I decide to ship to another address that qualifies for Free Shipping, the shipping method chosen for Hawaii remains selected. It does update the cost which is good, but the customer doesn't see that they now have a "Free" shipping option.

I realize that this is a small issue - at least as described here - however it would be nice if all selected shipping methods were unselected when an address change occurs. This would force the customer to click on Select Shipment again and now they would see that they have a Free Shipping option.

Update: 3/10/15
When Virtuemart provides me with fixes to the previous issues I'll re-test this to see if it also gets fixed. I believe it will.

I just got through working closely with one of the Virtuemart developers (Max) and all the issues I was experiencing with the pure Virtuemart checkout process and the handling of alternate addresses with the proper handling of associated shipment methods are now fixed. I assume that all of these fixes will be in the next minor release of Virtuemart - 3.0.6.4 (or higher).

I've also concluded that CleanMart works with the above fixes to VirtueMart with the caveat that I made some minor modifications to the CleanMart com_virtuemart/cart/select_shipment.php and select_payment.php scripts to allow them to work properly in all scenarios. I've sent the developer these changes for review. As of now I consider this topic closed and fixed.

Woww Michael,

I'm really appreciated about your effort on updating your own topic. I just saw your email as well;

You are right; It was a silly mistake that I forgot to include the <form>...</form> tag on selectShipment and selectShipment forms (if the AJAX is disabled).

anyway, i am closing this topic for clearance.

If you encounter any more problem, please create a new topic.
