The new Virtuemart 2 Template is finally OUT!!. We made Virtuemart more effective, more powerful and more aesthetic.

Flexible Web Design team, so far, has designed an awesome themes for VM1.1.9 and VM2.0.x, we have received spectacular feedbacks about them. Right after several weeks of VM2.0 template that we have released, the awesome feedbacks and our sale traffic has encrouaged us to build a better, cooler and fancier VM2 template. Flexible Web Design has finally finished the new design for VM2.0 template. We called it "FashionMart, the New Virtuemart Template". We brought some unique features with this template. For instance; "QUICK BUY" feature, if you browse some big companies' estores, you would know what this "QUICK BUY" feature means. While you are in category page, if you mouse hover a product thumbnail, a QUICK BUY icon appears above the thumbnail and you can browse the product detail page in a lightbox effect by clicking this link quickly. This is such an awesome feature, and has been broadly used by restpectful ecommerce websites, it is not something you see very often though. And i believe, no one has ever seen anything like this before in any Virtuemart website before. We are proudly announce this new feature for Virtuemart. As you all know, Unlike VM1.1.9, Virtuemart 2 has stopped using Theme system, it uses View folder and Default.php for each pages, basically Virtuemart is very look alike to Joomla from now on when it comes to applying templates. This makes things little bit complicated and doesn't give us enough freedom and flexibility which we like a lot as you can point this out from our web design company name . Theme for Virtuemart was awesome, because users were able to use separate template for Joomla, and separate theme for Virtuemart, they were separated completely, so users weren't stuck with limited numbers of Virtuemart+Joomla complete packages. But now, they have to install Virtuemart Template to their joomla which will change the layout of both their joomla and Virtuemart. It sounds good at first, since it looks like it is all-in one but think about it;

• How many people are using Joomla? Millions.
• How many people are using Virtuemart as Ecommerce software? Million
• How many templates (free or commercial) are available for Joomla? Billions
• How many template (free of commercial) are available for Joomla+Virtuemart? a few

People have to choose one of the "a few" virtuemart+joomla template in order to modify their Virtuemart 2.0, it sounds sucks so far, isn't it? Virtuemart 2 has finally released couple days ago.

Unlike Virtuemart 1.1.x, Virtuemart 2.0 doesn't use theme concept, it uses standard com_virtuemart/views/ folder where all template files are inside. So every specific front-end page is located in /views/ folder, for example; if you want to make some changes on product details page, you should edit: com_virtuemart/views/productdetails/temp/[yourowntemplatefile].php

This might confuse some people, obviously it used to be easier before. All you have to do was finding a theme package, upload the whole package to /theme/ folder and choosing that specific theme from virtuemart configuration window. That was it.  Your default Virtuemart theme would never be touched, you would have changed it back to default any time you would like. Things are different now, and little bit complicated.

There isn't any officially released theme for Virtuemart v2 yet (neither non-commercial nor commercial), and as you all guess Default Virtuemart Theme still looks ugly and 15 years old which is normal, the guys have done what they were suppose to, they gave built the structure and the visuality is up to customers and developers. Flexible Web Design Team hopefully will be the first one releasing the very first Virtuemart 2 Theme

Virtuemart doesn't come with the feature of showing thumbnails in shopping cart, how ever it is really easy to implement this awesome feature to Virtuemart, this modification is working on Virtuemart 1.1.x. And please make sure you SAVED your original files in case things messed up.  This modification will let you show thumbnails in shopping cart and check out process only. Not in the shopping cart module!

Make these files handy:

• Components/com_virtuemart/themes/default/template/basket:
• basket_b2b.html.php
• basket_b2c.html.php
• ro_basket_b2b.html.php
• ro_basket_b2b.html.php
• administrator/components/com_virtuemart/html:
• basket.php
• ro_basket.php

Add the following code lines to all 4 template/basket files.  The code to add is displayed on the second line.  The first line of code is a guide to show where to add the new code line.

Now we need to add the code that displays the image.  Add the following code to the basket.php and ro_basket.php files.  Once again, the first line of code is a guide that shows you where to place the code.
